About Us

Hancock Timber Resource Group was founded in 1985 by foresters and investment professionals who believed that timberland provided investors with an attractive asset class to further diversify their portfolios.

HTRG specializes in developing and managing diverse timberland portfolios on behalf of our clients. We offer a variety of investment products including individually managed accounts and commingled funds. Our investment services seek to provide investors with excellent capital preservation, portfolio diversification and attractive risk and return characteristics.

Our clients have assets located in Australia, Canada, Chile, New Zealand and the United States. As of June 30, 2018, assets under management totaled approximately $11.3 billion.

HTRG Fast Facts

Active forest management of our clients’ assets has provided enough lumber to build 1.9 million houses, enough pulp to produce 32.9 million tons of paper, and has generated 2.3 million megawatts of energy.

HTRG and HFM provide a unique combination of experience with direct, in-house management extending all the way from the field to investment management.

During our 33 years of business, HTRG has harvested over 332.4 million m3 of timber.

Since 1985, over 1 billion seedlings have been planted on our clients’ land, across 2.1 million acres. That’s equivalent to planting the states of Delaware and Rhode Island.

Through our Sensitive Lands Program, we have protected more than 470,000 acres of
land with vital environmental, recreation, scenic or historic value.

HTRG employs over 600 people with extensive experience in both the forestry and financial industries who bring their experience and knowledge to the pursuit of our clients’ goals.
